Sarah Ryan

Sarah Ryan was born in Lichfield and educated at Wrekin College, Shropshire. In 1988 she won the BBC Choirgirl of the the Year competition and the following year, recorded a one-hour radio special, Sarah Ryan Sings. She has since made numerous broadcasts for BBC Radios 2 and 4, as a soloist on Friday Night is Music Night, and in a guest appearance with Gloria Hunniford, Chris Stuart, Roger Royle, Derek Jameson and Don McLean.

Theatre credits include : Christine in Phantom of the Opera (Opera House, Manchester & Her Majesty's Theatre, London); Christine in Ken Hill's Phantom of the Opera (UK tour); Les Miserables (Palace Theatre, Manchester & Palace Theatre, London) where she understudied and played the role of Cosette; the original London company of Disney's Beauty & The Beast (Dominion Theatre, London); Josephine in HMS Pinafore (UK tour) for Opera Della Luna and Cinderella in the E&B production of Cinderella, opposite Brian Conley (Theatre Royal, Plymouth). In 2003 Sarah took part in the workshop of The Woman in White for Andrew Lloyd Webber. Most recently, Sarah was part of the Olivier Award Winning Ensemble of Jerry Springer the Opera (Cambridge Theatre, London) where she understudied and played the role of Shawntel (the poledancer!)

Television appearances include : Songs of Praise (BBC1); Daytime Live (BBC) ; A Virgin Most Pure (Channel4) and First Light(BBC)

In October '95 Sarah took part in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables at the Royal Albert Hall. Other concert work includes soloist in Some Enchanted Evening at Proctor's Theatre in New York state for their 75th anniversary celebrations. Sarah has also performed in Some Enchanted Evening at venues across the UK as well as two sell-out tour of South Africa and Taiwan.

Sarah performs as soprano soloist in the summer months at outdoor classical concerts with the English National Orchestra, at historic venues including Castle Howard, Battle Abbey, Westonbirt Aboretum, Belton House, Tonbridge Castle and Shugborough Hall. In June 2003 Sarah appeared as soprano soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. She also appeared as soloist in a series of concerts at the world-famous Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
As part of the highly acclaimed Maide Vale Singers, Sarah took part in a concert performance of Candide at the Festival Hall, London and in July 2005 will perform in HMS Pinafore at The Proms, Royal Albert Hall.

Sarah is currently appearing in the new production of Evita at the Adelphi Theatre.
